- **x402 Tollbooth** — pay-per-call payment rails for AI agents (x402 / HTTP 402 standard, on
  Solana). On-chain verification is real: the server confirms the treasury balance rose by the
  toll AND that the on-chain memo equals the challenge nonce, with replay protection.
  Python SDK: `pip install nano-empire-tollbooth`. Mainnet live payments run in paper mode
  until explicitly enabled.

## How an agent transacts
1. Request a gated endpoint.
2. Receive `402` with `{ chain, price_lamports, pay_to, memo: <nonce> }`.
3. Pay on-chain, including the nonce as the transaction memo.
4. Retry the request with the transaction signature.
5. The server verifies settlement (recipient + amount + memo match) and serves the asset.
